What an amazing service Gary and Jo provide to care for our dog twice a week! Toby squeals with excitement when he sees the van and happily goes each day bounding out of the front door! We love leaving our dog at Escape 2 the Country, he loves being with Jo and the family and always has a great time. We have total peace of mind when he is either walked by Jo or stays. So much so that he will be back soon for another stay. I would recommend Escape 2 the Country for anyone looking to give your dog a great holiday whilst they are on theirs.

Jo was highly recommended by a friend, to look after our Labrador Jack while we were on holiday, and she certainly lived up to her reputation. We did a meet and greet prior to the holiday and found Jo, and her family, friendly but also professional.
During Jacks stay we were kept informed of his progress via Facebook and Whatsapp with plenty of pictures showing him having a whale of a time with his new play mates. Due to Jo’s schedule & as previously agreed Jack also spent a few days with Malcolm (Jo’s brother in law) and was also looked after very well.
We’ve already booked him in for our next holiday and have no hesitation on giving Escape to the Country 5 stars. Jack’s already looking forward to his next stay.

We left our Springer spaniel, Jasper, with Joanne when we went on holiday for a week. He had a great time by all accounts and we were safe in the knowledge that he was in the best of care. We gave him a taster of day care and the odd overnight stay leading up to the holiday which went well. This is a tremendous service and would highly recommend. We booked our border collie Oscar in to stay with Jo an her family for a week in January. He is our first dog and we were very nervous about leaving him with someone! We have spent a lot of time and effort training him and getting his routine right so I was very fussy as to where we let him stay. I needn't of worried! Jo and her family took Oscar under their wing and he really had a home from home for the week. I don't think he wanted to leave!! She followed all my instructions to a T and gave us regular email updates and pictures as well as texts and Facebook updates. I would not hesitate to book Oscar in again with Jo and her lovely family and will be recommending her to anyone looking for dog boarding. My German Shepherd Dog, Tess, is 7 yrs old & we adopted her 4 years ago....during that time we've worked really hard with her to overcome her nervousness of new people.....although she is tons better than when we got her (she is not filled with dread, pacing the room & distressed) but she is still quite wary....I was so worried starting with a new dog walker that she wouldn't settle, & it's not easy getting people to follow directions as to how to act around her.....I needn't have worried! Jo was so professional & understands dogs....by the 3rd visit to take Tess out, Jo & I were delighted when Tess welcomed her at the door like an old friend.....I suppose it you've never had a dog with past problems affecting them mentally you wouldn't appreciate just how pleasing & satisfying, & what a relief it is.....to adapt to a new person this quickly is really unusual for our girl.....our cleaner has had a new girl for the same period since having Jo & Tess is not happy at all with her.......I'm so chuffed now that I can message Jo if my husband is going away & I know that Jo will come & take Tess to chase the ball for half an hour, tiring her out....Tess waits on Jo's van arriving & then runs out to kiss Jo's ears.....Thank you Jo!

We are so glad we found Escape 2 the Country, our West Highland Terrier Bonnie stayed for the first time recently and she settled in immediately. Both the family and location are lovely. She is staying again this summer and we have complete piece of mind knowing she will have an excellent time while we are away as she really is made to feel like one of the family. Thanks Jo.

Thank goodness that after searching the internet I found Escape 2 the country. Our two lurchers Wispa and Bobby had never been apart from us and we knew that having used kennels in the past we wanted our hounds to be in a home from home environment. To be able to actually meet the hosts prior to leaving your dogs with them was a great help as other home boarding do not allow you to meet the host family. Jo and her family were the perfect choice, fantastic location and people who understand and love dogs. Our hounds had a great time and it was a lovely touch that Jo kept us informed by text allowing us to relax and enjoy our holiday. We picked up 2 tired but happy and content dogs who certainly enjoyed their long country walks (plus all the rabbit watching).
Jo, Gary and girls thankyou for taking such good care of our dogs and if Jo is'nt fully booked we will have no hesitation in leaving them at Escape 2 the Country next year.

We are so pleased with the care and love Casper has received from Jo and her family, when he stayed in September. Casper settled in so well and made friends with Shakira straight away, he loved his walks in the beautiful woodland area surrounding their amazing house. Having found Escape 2 The Country via a friend, Lucy, my family and I visited Jo and her family - what a super welcome, very homely and caring and immediately booked Lucy for her holidays in August 2012.
Lucy has never stayed in kennels, only family, so this was a first for us all. Lucy had a super time (yes she did tell me), I received texts from Jo saying how well she was settling in and what she had been up to. When we returned from holiday I think Lucy thought oh no I have to go home! she had a ball and being part of the family made a huge difference. We have recommended Jo to others, and will definately use her again - Thank you Jo, Gary and girls - ps do you take husbands too!!

After looking all over for somewhere to leave are dog Archie for the first time we came across escape 2 the country. After meeting with Jo and all the family we felt that her home was the best place to leave Archie for the long weekend. While we were away Jo kept us up to date on how Archie was getting on texting each day and sending us photos of him with his new friends. When we arrived to pick Archie up he was very happy there and had been very well looked after we would highly recommend Escape 2 the country.Thank you very much Jo & family.

Having never left our 2 dogs for a long period of time before we were recommended escape 2 the country home dog boarding. After contacting Jo,who couldn't have been more helpful,we went for a visit.We knew straight away this was the perfect place for our dogs and as soon as they met Jo and her lovely family they seemed right at home.
While we were away Jo constantly kept us informed of how Candy and Aspen were getting on and even posted pictures of them on her facebook page, which made us all the more at ease.
When we collected them you could see the dogs and Jo had a really strong bond together and Candy and Aspen definatley missed Jo,Gary and the girls.
We have just received the most beautiful album of photos from Jo which shows they had an amazing time while they were with her. Its personal touches like this which shows what a fantastic person Jo is and her genuine love for dogs.
Candy and Aspen will be returning next year, I would not put them with anybody else, and would always recommend Escape 2 the Country for anybody looking for a loving home environment for their dogs.

We went to meet Jo and the rest of the family and immediately felt we could leave our 11 month old Beagle with her. We knew kennels were not an option as Jess is very much part of the family and we were worried she would fret. We left her with Jo for four days earlier this month and I can't recommend her highly enough. She sent regular text updates letting us know how Jess was getting on which made us feel much more relaxed and able to enjoy our holiday. It was as if we had left her with a family friend. When we picked her up she was absolutely fine and Jo has since sent us some lovely photos of her stay. We will not hesitate to book her in with Jo the next time we go away....absolutely 5 star!!!

After my initial visit with Jo and her lovely family, I had no qualms about leaving my dog Gus with them for the few days I was away on holiday. The surroundings are perfect: lovely countryside and a river close by which I knew he'd he loved to splash about in - and he duly did! Jo sent daily texts letting me know what he'd been up to and later sent photos showing Gus on his walks and generally having a fantastic time inside and outside of her home. I have no hesitation in recommending Jo, and will even force myself to have another holiday just so that Gus can go back for his. Thanks again Jo x.

This Christmas I was over in the US visiting my wife's family. I found Jo's website on Google and visited her with Bear, the family akita, to see if he would fit in. He was duly booked in and had a wonderful time. He had his paws under the table in no time and loved all the cuddles. There is no question at all that he'll be going back next Christmas. The care and attention couldn't have been better and there were tears when he had to leave.

Having never left my two beloved Golden Retrievers Floss and Oscar ever before I was in such a dilemma. Under no circumstances did I wish for them to be separated or caged. I came across Escape 2 The Country during many a web search, I rang Jo immediately and arranged to meet the following evening. Upon meeting Jo and her lovely family I knew that this was just the place to leave my goldens. Jo listens to your every word to ensure that this was truly a home from home for them plus much, much more. The texts I received whilst away were so reassuring and also the photos of Floss and Oscar looking so happy. My only worry was that they wouldn't want to leave! I have since booked another holiday and have given the dates to Jo, so that not only I can have a great time but also the dogs. I can't thank Jo and her family enough for looking after my dogs with such affection and warmth. I have recommended her to all my doggy friends.

Having put my dog Mojo into kennels early in 2011, an awful experience for him and me as he was so distressed, I was very anxious to find somewhere where Mojo would be happy when I was on holiday again during the summer.
I found Jo via Google, and immediately on meeting her at her home to discuss having Mojo I felt completely at ease. Jo is a lovely warm friendly person who clearly loves dogs and loves her work. But more importantly Mojo clearly loves being with her too.
I've used Jo twice this summer. Taking Mojo back for the second visit, he was clearly delighted to see Jo again. He has loads of room, his own sofa (!), plenty outside space and is quite simply accepted as one of the family in the house. Three walks a day, plenty of fussing and play, swims in the river - no wonder he loves it.
I really can't recommend Jo highly enough. Using her services is so much better than taking your dog to a concrete kennel. It means you can enjoy your time away without any worry about your hound. Perfect! Thanks Jo.

Alaska and Savannah, our beautiful Bichon Frise dogs spent a week at Escape 2 the Country while we relaxed in Turkey. They are lively City dogs and we were a little concerned how they might cope with a secluded country environment. We should not have worried, they had the time of their lives! Joanne kept us fully informed about their escapades, they made friends with her dogs and Angus, another Bichon and discovered the delights of swimming in the river. Staying in a family enviroment suited them down to the ground and they were two happy, tired dogs when we collected them. It is difficuly, perhaps impossible to imagine a better boarding enviroment. We look forward to using Escape 2 again, and Alaska and Savannah cannot wait!

Having had a horrible experience of putting a dog in quarantine kennels for 6 months and she died after a couple of weeks of us getting her back,it was a pleasure to have found JO,s place in Mitford,our little dog Angus has a second home,we have had him stay with Jo and her family a few times now and he loves it, he gets the best treatment and spoilt rotten, we recommend this home, not a kennel, to anyone who is worried about leaving their dog with other people. Our 3 springer spaniels stayed with jo & her family for 1 week, it's the 1st time ive never had to worry about leaving them.....I had updates from jo almost every day explaining how 'our girls' had been swimming in the river, long walks, watching tv with her children (hehe) & got all the kisses & cuddles they would get from us (if not more) the price is fantastic & I will recommend escape to the country to all of my friends & will definitely b bringing my girls back next year!!!!!

I felt confident leaving my hounds with Jo and her family as well as her own dogs. I was pleased with the service provided and there was no question that my dogs had enjoyed their visit which helps to take pressure off as an owner knowing there is no need to worry as my dogs were looked after in their home, in a friendly, warm and active family environment.
Overall a satisfied customer and I would definitely use this dog boarding service in the near future.

Having never had to use Home Dog Boarding or Kennels before, and after visiting Jo for a meet and greet with our German Shepherd Eddie we had no doubts about leaving Eddie with Jo and her family. Eddie was well looked after and Jo kept in contact with us by text messsages. Jo's children and Eddie really took to each other and had plenty of hugs and kisses and was exercised well. I would have no hesitation in recommending Jo to other people.

My two mischievous cocker spaniels spent a lovely 8 days with Jo. They had the full run of the place and received lots of hugs and kisses. They swam in the river and soaked Jo while wrestling her for the towel. Jo uploaded photos to Facebook so I could see what the boys were up to. Jo also kept us updated with texts. Jo provides an excellent personal service and I would recommend her to all my friends and family. Don't put your dog in kennels when you will have more comfort of mind leaving them in a loving home in a beautiful setting. A**********

Having always used kennels in the past, with mixed experiences I have to add, it was with real trepidation that we searched for a home from home for our 6 month old puppy Hugo.
Thankfully we chose the perfect family within the perfect setting! It was obvious from the onset that the focus was purely on what was right for Hugo as an individual and not just the old tried and tested routine that awaits dogs in most kennels. Jo's warmth and exuberance totally put paid to my worries and anxieties and her lovely girls assured me they would be more than capable playmates for an excitable puppy. We returned to not only a healthier looking and very happy Hugo but also to find he was very reluctant to
leave!! It goes without saying he will be visiting his new family for many more times to come - I'm Just happy we found it!
